Dennis, Massachusetts was named an All-American Town in 1978, and combines its traditional New England heritage with modern day conveniences. Released in 2009 on Woodsist. Real Estate is a band from Ridgewood, New Jersey. They formed in 2008. This is their debut album.

Real Estate make chill, smooth sounding, melodic lofi / pop / indie rock with a dab of psychedelic. Shimmering guitars, hazy vocals. Very easy to listen to. Very easy to enjoy.

There is no sense of urgency anywhere on this record. It all sounds very effortless and relaxed. Chillin’ chillin’ type shit. Songs about swimming pools, breaking into your neighbors yard, budweiser & sprite (does that even taste good ? who puts sprite in their beer?). All the hallmarks of lazy, suburban kids up to no good.

Anyways, there aren’t a lot of twists and turns on here. The album is very consistent. All the songs sound similar, but they also succeed in exploring that sound enough so that each song can stand apart. The band themselves seem to play very fluidly together. They seem like very laid back kind of dudes.

If you don’t like chillin’ or music that just wants you to take it easy, then is not for you. This type of stuff is geared towards the Yo La Tengo and Shins crowd. Hipsters with bad hair and ugly shorts and over sized sunglasses. Those ! But, regardless, I found Real Estate to be very enjoyable. I like.
